Treasure Hunting

Every spring, I pick up my trowel and shovel to plant a garden.  Each time, I think how wonderful it would be if I were one of those lucky individuals to chance upon a treasure in the garden bed.  I keep my eyes open for an arrowhead, but I’ve never found one.

However, after nine years living in our current home, I finally observed a fossil rock!  Upon closer inspection, I noted three fossil rocks!  I jumped for joy and told all my family, friends, and neighbors, triumphantly showing them the fossils.

It was a humbling moment.  As an engineer, I’ve often prided myself on my powers of observation.  Yet, it took me nine years to notice these beautiful shells.
